YOUR APPOINTMENT
At CBD Medico-Legal Consultants we seek to be a warm, friendly, space for you to attend your IME/IMC appointment. Some FAQ's are outlined below about the details of your appointment.


Independent Medical Examinations
An Independent Medical Examination (IME) is a medical examination performed by an independent medical specialist with qualifications relevant to your injury. The medical specialist is not there to replace your treating doctor but to offer a specialist opinion.

Injury Management Consultations
Injury Management Consultant's (IMC's) are highly experienced in:

managing work related illness/injuries

assessing what you can do

communicating and negotiating with doctors, employers and insurance companies.
Your employer or insurer may refer you to an IMC if you are having difficulty returning to work safely.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where will my appointment take place?
Your case manager will have sent you a confirmation outlining all details of your appointment including the location. We have multiple locations across NSW so please check the confirmation carefully.
If you need help with directions feel free to contact our friendly team who can assist.

How long will my appointment be?
Approximately 30-60 minutes. Please allow for 90-120 minutes.

What/who should I bring to my appointment?
You may bring a support person with you. We ask that you limit this to 1 support person only.
Please bring all radiographic films and test results (MRI, X-ray, CT Scans, Ultrasounds etc) relevant to the injury/condition you are being assessed for.

What will happen when I arrive at my appointment?
Our friendly team will be waiting to greet you at the reception desk. You will be asked to sign a consent form, consenting to the IME/IMC you have been referred for. Our doctor will see you as soon as they can once you have signed the consent form.

Will I receive a copy of my IME/IMC report?
You may request a copy of the report from the insurance company or law firm who referred you to the doctor.
